Barney Bentall and the Grand Cariboo Opry
Western country roots at its finest.
Deep in the heart of British Columbia’s historic Cariboo Country, two generations of some of Canada’s finest roots and country musicians joined cowboy poet and folk troubadour Barney Bentall to put on a one of a kind event that harkens back to a simpler time. Once wasn’t enough, and thus was born the Grand Cariboo Opry, a western orchestra that brings to the stage a concert brimming with songs both classic and original.
Each room that the Opry visits reverberates with laughter, storytelling, and the timeless sound of contemporary songwriters steeped in tradition for an unforgettable evening of entertainment. GCO is marvelously hosted by Barney, with his very humorous and highly entertaining monologues, as he fronts a big band consisting of members of The Legendary Hearts augmented by mandolin, banjo, piano, and fiddle.
Making regular appearances with the Opry are such well-loved Canadian artists as Ridley Bent, Dustin Bentall, and Kendel Carson. From time to time, special guests also grace the stage, and have included Jim Cuddy, Cathy Jones, Joel Plaskett, Daniel Lapp, and Steve Dawson.
In the Grand Cariboo Opry, everyone plays and everyone sings… sometimes all at once. The theme of this dynamic evening is western/country/roots, including the artists’ original songs as well as some classics reinterpreted for the GCO stage.
One of a kind sponsorship opportunities are available to utilize this show for a fundraiser. We invite you to support your community and come share in the magic that is the Grand Cariboo Opry!
